Reinhard Seifried

The conductor Reinhard Seifried was born in Freising near Munich. He studied at the Munich Conservatory and with Franco Ferrara in Siena. Subsequently Reinhard Seifried completed his apprenticeship as an assistant to Rudolf Kempe. His work under Karl Richter and Rafael Kubelik also influenced him strongly.
At first Reinhard Seifried was engaged as solo repetiteur in Mannheim and Cologne, then he became first Kapellmeister at the Munich State Theatre and at Nuremberg. In 1991, Reinhard Seifried was appointed musical director of the Remscheid Symphony Orchestra and in 1993 took up a similar position with the Staatstheater Oldenburg. In addition to his mainstream responsibilities, Reinhard Seifried appears as a guest conductor with numerous orchestras both at home and abroad.
For Naxos, Reinhard Seifried has recorded all five Mendelssohn symphonies with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. The Scotsman newspaper said of the recording of the 2nd that: “Reinhard Seifried’s gentle and persuasive account…generally captures its immeasurable charm.”
