Maria Nazarova
Russian soprano Maria Nazarova was born in 1988 in Dnepropetrovsk (USSR). After graduating from the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts in Moscow in 2010, she started her Master's degree at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, Austria. In 2013, she moved to Vienna to study at the Opera Studio of the Vienna Conservatory (MUK). In 2014, Maria Nazarova was invited to perform the role of Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel at the Vilnius City Opera with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and sang this role again in 2015. The same year, she made her debut as Lisa in La Sonnambula at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, Germany. Maria Nazarova is a prizewinner of several international voice competitions and won the sirst prize in the Primo Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino in 2015 in Italy. Having finished her studies in 2015, the young artist received a Novomatic scholarship at the Wiener Staatsoper. In 2016, she became a member of the ensemble of the Wiener Staatsoper and has since then been heard as Adele, Musetta, Oscar, Sophie (Werther), Lisa (La Sonnambula), Despina, Yniold, Najade, Fiakermilli, Clorinda, Barbarina and Papagena among other roles. In May 2017, she was invited to sing Oscar in Un ballo in maschera alongside Plácido Domingo at his 50th Stage Anniversary Gala hosted by the Wiener Staatsoper. In February 2018, Maria Nazarova made her Teatro alla Scala debut as Adele in Die Fledermaus under the baton of Cornelius Meister. In 2016, she made her debut at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow as Despina in Cosi fan tutte, and sang this role again there in 2018. She was also invited to sing Despina at the Vilnius City Opera. In summer 2018, she performed the role of Papagena in a new production of Die Zauberflöte at the Salzburg Festival.
