Sophie Koch
Sophie Koch studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and won the first prize at the renowned dutch Hertogenbosch Competition. She celebrated her first big success at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London (in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Così fan tutte) and at the Semperoper in Dresden (in Ariadne auf Naxos). Further engagements soon led her to the Bayerische State Opera in Munich, to Vienna, Berlin, Milan, Paris, Toulouse, Brussels, Madrid, Geneva as well as the Salzburg Festivals. Further performances include Marie (Dialogues des Carmélites) and Venus (Tannhäuser) in London, Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos), Waltraute (Götterdämmerung) in Paris, Charlotte (Werther) in Madrid and London, and the leading role in Mignon in Geneva. Sophie Koch is also internationally successful as a song and concert singer. In 1999, she gave her debut at the Vienna State Opera as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro and besides that she also sang Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos), Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Nicklausse (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Charlotte and Silla (Palestrina).
