Lothar Odinius
Lothar Odinius is one of the most renowned concert- and opera singers of the recent generation of singers. With a repertoire that ranges from Baroque to the Contemporary he has earned international reputation. He is a regular guest at all major international festivals and in all the important concert halls of Berlin, Vienna, Milan, London, and New York (Carnegie Hall).
He is equally at ease singing opera, and was a guest with the most renowned opera houses and festivals including Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opéra national de Paris, Semperoper Dresden, Opera Zurich, as well as Bayreuth Festival, Ruhrtriennale, in Glyndebourne and Schwetzingen, where he already collaborated with conductors, such as, Christian Thielemann, Franz Welser-Möst, Ivor Bolton, Roger Norrington, Adam Fischer, Thomas Hengelbrock, Philippe Herreweghe, Andrew Manze, Neville Marriner, Marc Minkowski, Kirill Petrenko, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Helmuth Rilling, and Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
Central to his repertoire are the dramatic Mozart roles (Idomeneo), as well as the Wagner roles Froh and Loge (Das Rheingold last season at Staatstheater Kassel).
Recent highlights include Herzog Guido von Herzog Guido von Urbino/Eine Nacht in Venedig at Opéra de Lyon, title role La Clemenza di Tito in Gent and Antwerp, Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria/Giove and Anfinomo at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Karl von Valois/Szenen aus dem Leben der Heiligen Johanna under the baton of Stefan Soltesz at Opera Cologne, Froh/Das Rheingold with the NDR Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Dortmund and Baden-Baden, Telemann‘s Brockes Passion and Dvorak‘s Stabat Mater in Hamburg, Bach‘s Johannes Passion in Paris, Haydn‘s The Creation/Uriel under Sir Roger Norrington in Kiel, Schubert‘s Winterreise (chamber version) in Lisbon, works by Telemann and Handel at Semperoper Dresden, Mahler‘s Das klagende Lied in Madrid, Beethoven‘s Missa solemnis on the occasion of the Ruhrtriennale, Mozart‘s Requiem at Carnegie Hall and Elbphilharmonie, as well as Mozart‘s Mass in c minor under Bernard Labadie at Wiener Konzerthaus.
Upcoming engagements include, among others, title role of Idomeneo at Staatstheater Kassel, Schubert‘s Mass in e flat major at Wiener Konzerthaus, Bruckner‘s Mass No 3 in Hamburg, the world premiere of Alfred Felder‘s Walpurgisnacht in Zurich, Beethoven’s symphony No. 9 within the scope of a concert tour together with the International Bach Academy Stuttgart under Hans-Christoph Rademann, as well as Beethoven‘s Missa solemnis under the baton of Oksana Lyniv in Graz.
