Carl Millöcker (1842 - 1899)
A flautist under Supp and then a conductor, Karl Millcker was eventually able to devote his attention to the composition of operettas, winning his most significant success with Der Bettelstudent (‘The Beggar Student’), among many works written for the Theater an der Wien, where he served for a time as a conductor. He was among the leading Viennese operetta composers of his time.
